MOKSH aka Mrinal Paul is the new rising voice on the block. He is a multi-lingual rapper who belts out bars in English, Hindi and Bengali blended with the occasional Khasi, Assamese and Sanskrit, nudging the needle on Shillong’s hip-hop scene a little further. Mrinal is also a member of the local collective, Movement of Expression, an initiative to curate hip-hop events featuring local rappers.
The 23 year dabbles with his day job as a freelance journalist and event manager to meet his rapper aspirations. MOKSH’s debut video ‘Aya MOKSH’ has been backed up and produced by Aizawl based composer/singer-songwriter Yugi Beats. Set against a low booming beat, MOKSH’s authentic voice spills out in consistent flows.
He raps of his aspirations and motivations as an artist with grit yet humility. “Apni soch ka prakash karna aaya hai Moksh”, he says. MOKSH is here and he is here to win. The video has been shot in Shillong by Ricky Lalrinsanga.
