Watch: Ease Up by Kumail ft. Sid Vashi

Bombay-based producer Kumail unveiled vibrant new visuals for his track ‘Ease Up’, featuring Sid Vashi. The video adds another city on the artist’s international effort for album Yasmin, which features collaborators from Gabon, LA, Bombay, Paris and Sydney. Shot and produced in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, his first-ever music video comes with a playful and dynamic aesthetic.

Conceptualized as an ode to street-dance culture, it features a local dance troupe grooving to the tune. Director Jason Shomba Lokanga and choreographer Papy Kapinga Misenga keep the spirits high with bouncy choreography and a laidback mood. Going this offbeat route adds immense replay value and highlights the song’s potential for the dance floor.

Kumail is a producer and DJ who signed with Brooklyn-based music label Bastard Jazz Recordings last year. Yasmin was his first release under the label. Known for his downtempo style, his music draws from R&B, jazz and soul. He performed at Croatia’s Dimensions Festival in 2018 and is a frequent name on local musical festival lineups.

Sid Vashi is a musician and multi-instrumentalist who gained prominence with his 2017 concept album Azuma Kazuma. His last release was 2019’s Careful Walker Vol. 1, a compilation of remixes with scrapbooked samples that combined east and west.
