The Bengaluru-based Carnatic progressive rockers, Agam, released the music video for the song ‘Kooth (Koothu) Over Coffee’ from their upcoming sophomore album A Dream To Remember.
Agam has already released four music videos showcasing an intimate performance of the album’s songs and the music video of ‘Kooth (Koothu) Over Coffee’ also achieves the same.
The video features the band perform the Tamil song live with a nine-member string ensemble and a six-member choir conducted by Shaaju Vadiyil. The song takes inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s folk music and an unlikely source – Celtic music style. Agam has created the new album with over 80 musicians and artists, making this an ambitious effort, and simultaneously, ensuring the soundscape is interesting and nuanced. Like all the songs from A Dream To Remember, there seems to be a desire to delve greater into the Carnatic roots and still try and compose something that can equally resonate in a contemporary fashion. At the end of the video, one can feel the vibe of what an Agam concert would be like, fulfiling the intent of releasing the album visually.
Agam is set to begin its ‘The Dream Tour” at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Chennai on March 25.
