Anushka Sharma’s Pari hit the theatres this Holi promising it wasn’t going to be a fairy tale. The film is primarily dependent on Ketan Sodha’s background score which is wonderful – not too jarring like most Bollywood films, it is mostly minimal and interjects intimacy and fear.
The film’s music album only comprises two songs. ‘Meri Khamoshi Hai’ is sung by Ishan Mitra. It is a pleasant and somewhat typical Anupam Roy song.
‘So Ja So Ja’ on the other hand is a haunting lullaby sung by Rekha Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj’s evocative vocals have the power to spook the listener, even with the credits visual. The song is particularly impressive since it comes from Roy, and not someone like Vishal Bhardwaj (the composition, especially with wife Rekha singing it, sounds like his product).
