Weekly Roundup: 5 new albums you should listen to

Various Artists – Black Panther OST

The much-awaited soundtrack of the Marvel feature film Black Panther has arrived. The soundtrack, co-curated and produced by Kendrick Lamar and TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, consist of various features from within and outside the TDE label. Artists include SZA (‘All of the Stars’), the Weeknd (‘Pray for Me’), Schoolboy Q, Vince Staples amongst others.

Ezra Furman – Transangelic Exodus

The Chicago-born singer-songwriter is back with his fourth solo effort, Transangelic Exodus. This will be Furman’s first full length feature since 2015. It is a conceptual album about a protagonist being in love with an angel while being chased by government officials.

MGMT – Little Dark Age

MGMT has returned with a new album, Little Dark Age, after nearly five years. This is the follow up to 2013’s self-titled third album, which featured a variety of unique visual elements, providing listeners with a simultaneous aural and optical listening experience. It includes released singles, ‘Little Dark Age’, ‘Hand It Over’, ‘When You Die’, and is produced by Patrick Wimberly and longtime contributor Dave Fridmann.

Franz Ferdinand – Always Ascending

One of the fewest survivors from the early to mid-2000’s indie rock explosion, this is the fifth full-length release for the Scottish indie rock band. It marks their first studio release since 2015’s collaboration with Sparks called as FFS, and their first non-collaborative effort in over four years. It includes the three singles released prior, ‘Always Ascending’, ‘Feel the Love Go’ and ‘Lazy Boy’.

Justin Timberlake – Man of the Woods

The Prince of Pop released his latest album, Man of the Woodsafter a sizable gap of five years. Comprising 16 tracks in total, Man of the Woods features guest appearances from Alicia Keys in ‘Morning Light’ and Chris Stapleton in ‘Say Something’.
