Coke Studio's Season 11 finished with a controversy. A forgettable season, especially after Ali Hamza and Zohaib Kazi, raised expectations with a wonderful Explorer prelude.
After a really disappointing effort in Episode 7, Coke Studio Season 11 returns to form.
The seventh episode of Coke Studio is average at best, with nothing memorable to take away from it.
Returning after two weeks, this was definitely one of the weaker episodes this season, but it should still not take away from Sounds of Kolachi's scintillating debut.
While it is tabla maestro Zakir Hussain's background score that is a bigger part of the on-screen narrative than songs, understandably, Khanwalkar delivers the goods as far as the music album of 'Manto' is concerned.
The magic of Anurag Kashyap also lies in how he uses the soundtrack of his films and in Manmarziyaan, Amit Trivedi creates a stunning OST for him to indulge in.
Despite the negativity on social media, that is a bit unfair because the producers are trying different things, Coke Studio 11 seems to have finally found its groove. Episode 5, titled 'Mauj' comprises three good songs.
Two out of three songs in this episode are winners. Zohaib Kazi and Ali Hamza have delivered a lot more in the last couple of episodes, which hopefully means the best for the business end of this season.
